Ruili brief
Ruili is a border town between southwest Yunnan Province and northeast Burma. neighboring Myanmar on three sides. The border has some special scenic spots, such as: one Village Standing on the Soil of Two Countries at Yunjing, One Courtyard Standing on the Soil of Two Countries at Tunhong, and China-Myanmar Street at Jiegao. Ruili is a birthplace of the Dai ethnic group.
Top attractions
Jiele Golden Pagoda: 7km to the east of Ruili Town and close to No. 320 Natioanl Road, Jiele Pagoda has a long history and has experienced eight destruction and eight reconstructions, the last reconstruction was in 1980s. The magnificent main pagoda is 39.5 meters tall, with 16 smaller pagodas around it. All pagodas are like bottle gourds and are of a golden color. It is honored as the first Buddhist pagoda in Dehong, enjoying the same prestige as Mandele Buddhist Pagoda in Burma.
Ruili River: Ruili River is one of the three major tributaries of the Irrawaddy River. Ruili River is a river flowing through tropical areas and valleys. The whole river consists of three sections with quite different scenic beauties. The drainage area of the Ruili River is rich in tourist resources with various scenic spots grouped together. Thus it is a multi-functional tourist attraction characterized by its tropical and sub tropical scenery, border ports, ethnic religions, histories and cultures.

King of Banian Trees in China: The Banian tree, at Laodao Village of Tongbiguan in Yingjiang County, is over 400 years old, 40 meters high and covers an area of 5.5 mu. More than 100 new trunks have grown from aerial roots, which touch the ground. The new and old trunks join together, forming a wonderful one-tree forest. Walking under the tree, you will feel as if you were wandering in a virgin forest. It is the biggest banian tree that has ever been found in China. So named as the king of the Banian Trees in China.
Jiegao Border Check Point: Continue straight ahead from the Golden Duck Temple , cross the Myanmar bridge over the Ruili River and you will come to Jiegao , a little thumb of land jutting into Myanmar that serves as the main checkpoint for a steady stream of cross-border traffic . There are not many to see here. Proceed to visit Burma.
Moli Tropical Rain Forest Area: The scenic area of Moli Tropical Forest Area, in Moli Valley, is located 20km from Ruili City of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The whole area is characterized by its natural fresh air and green hills and trees, beautiful tropical landscapes. The scenic spot is like a natural oxygen bar which you probably will relax yourself once you enter it.
Recommended tour
Ruili is 12 hours from Kunming by bus along the main Kunming-Mandalay Highway, going via the towns of Baoshan, Mangshi, where there are airports.
The rainy season starts from July and ends in October, and the rain tends to come down in torrents and ends very quickly.

Shopping:
In the Sino-Myanmare border area, the abundance of gems, jadeware and jadeite create China's largest jewel market. At the market, tourists will be pleasantly surprised to find something they like.
Entertainment:
With rich ethnic custom and colorful folk activities and festivals, Ruili is referred to as the "hometown of songs and dances". The native Dai and Jingpo people are good at singing and dancing, a way for them to let go their emotions. The major events that give play to local people's custom include the Water Splashing Festival, Munao Zongge Festival, and Carnival for Fellowmen from Both China and Myanmar.
